The Syncast: A bit of history (Christmas show is live)

TheSyncast:

Many of you are already aware of TheSyncast but I figured it made good solid solidified sense to post a blog about it. I'm sure there are a good number of you that have never heard of TheSyncast and that's not a good thing. The first Syncast went live 06/01/2006 with KD as the host. KD hosted the majority of the first 10 Episodes sharing his duty occasionally with Man of War. Motion Plus guest hosted a special mixtape edition which lead to a series of episodes promoting Night Owls 3 (A Syntax Records Compilation). I guest hosted that whole series and have been hosting ever since with Shane Newville by my side every step of the way. When KD stepped into the booth to record the first episode there is no way any of us could have predicted what this would turn in to. Some of us still don't believe it (Jeremiah Bonds). The number of listeners has went buck wild nutty and the feedback has been super supreme and good. The show has continually evolvified and adaptated. We have interviewed a boatload of artists and we always have a lot of fun with the interviews. We've also been interviewing MMA fighters and we even had BJ Penn's mom on the show thanks to RedCloud. We plan to continue doing interviews with UFC fighters and other people in the MMA world but we aren't going to quit interviewing music artists. We'll just mosh it up and smash it. We still play a good amount of music. No doi! Mostly hip hop but occasionally we drop other genres into the mix. To compensate for the non-music based interviews we have DJ Promote cooking up live mixes that we will hopefully start rotating in more regularly. That way the people that are only downloading for the music will not only get that but they'll get it in a live mixtape format. The people that listen for the the odd chemistry between Shane Newville and myself will continue to get plenty of oddness as well as chemistry. We post the i-tunes/amazon links and/or qualityjunk.com links for each track we play so you can always find the music. Most folks subscribe to TheSyncast through itunes but there are a lot of people that just go straight to TheSyncast.Com and listen plus all of the other places where the show is streamed. KD created a monster and still pops his head in occasionally to see what we are doing. Jeremiah Bonds occasionally stops by with a Quality Junk update or something else less important. Consistently we have went all out on our Christmas episode. The 2008 Christmas episode went live today and it is packed full of treats, goodies, exlusivos, super goods, holiday jams and joints. We hope you enjoy this episode and if you haven't heard any of the previous episodes read the summaries and check out the ones that grab your thought maker. - MaxOne

Maxwell: BLACKsummers’ Night

The best way to listen to Maxwell’s new “BLACKsummers’ Night” is with the volume turned all the way up. The Girl Who Silenced the World for 5 Minutes

I believe that children our our future. Most people think Whitney Houston penned the lyrics to the timeless hit “The Greatest Love of All,” or that Randy Watson was the genius behind the words when he led the wildly-famous soul band “Sexual Chocolate.” Actually, the song was originally recorded by George Benson in 1977 for the [...]

K’Naan: Straight Outta Mogadishu

Straight Outta Mogadishu Somali-born rapper K’naan on African pirates and the world’s hardest ghetto. —By Eamon Kircher-Allen for Mother Jones K’naan’s music sounds a little like Eminem’s, if Slim Shady had spent his childhood dodging bullets in Somalia’s civil war. “I Want Michelle Obama Arms!”

She’s Pumped. Your Turn. By LIZ ROBBINS THE arms have taken on a life of their own. They have provoked controversy, envy, a bit of backlash, even bad puns about the right to bare them.
