Hi Angel. Ella's Daughters is a group of women who are honoring the legacy of Ella Baker by creating at network of women involved in social justice. I thought you may be interested given your involvement with youth. Everything is going well over here. I still need to get out a bit more, but I have been enjoying Chicago so far this summer.

Hey Angel. Have you heard of the group Ella's Daughters? They are having an event this evening and I thought you would be interested. I don't think I will be able to make it. But check out their website--www.ellasdaughters.org. --if you haven't heard already.

Angel--hey girrrrl!!! For the life of me, I thought I had already sent you a comment back and now I am mortified because I did not. How DARE me! LOL. Thank you SO much for the comments, hon'! I am glad you enjoyed the tunes..and of course I had to be in the patriotic spirit around the 4th of July. Speaking of which....dang...where did the time go? On July 5th, I blinked, I sneezed and now it is July 30th. LOL. I love your eye color. I know they change colors, right? Wish mine did--I am one coordinating sista. See...God knew what he was doing because I like everything matching. It would just have given me more excuses to shop, trying to match with my eyes. Green today...I'm going shopping. Blue the next day...I gots to go shopping. See? It's not my fault...I was born with this condition. LOL.

Corinne Bailey Rae: The Sea

The process of healing isn’t really a matter of “getting over it” — taking it in is what’s necessary, incorporating what’s been [...]

Maxwell: BLACKsummers’ Night

The best way to listen to Maxwell’s new “BLACKsummers’ Night” is with the volume turned all the way up. The R&B artist didn’t take a turn toward heavy metal during the eight years he’s spent between releasing albums; this one, like his previous three, is full of meditative jams written on the continuum between ardor [...]

Laura Izibor: Let The Truth Be Told

The Irish diva is soon to go global via her debut album on Atlantic. This album from the young Dubliner was set to be released on Jive Records three years ago, but got shelved. The Girl Who Silenced the World for 5 Minutes

Straight Outta Mogadishu Somali-born rapper K’naan on African pirates and the world’s hardest ghetto. —By Eamon Kircher-Allen for Mother Jones K’naan’s music sounds a little like Eminem’s, if Slim Shady had spent his childhood dodging bullets in Somalia’s civil war. “I Want Michelle Obama Arms!”

She’s Pumped. Your Turn. By LIZ ROBBINS THE arms have taken on a life of their own. They have provoked controversy, envy, a bit of backlash, even bad puns about the right to bare them.
