About Me:
I want world peace. I take showers in the dark. I've read all seven Harry Potter books and I don't care who knows it. I make great mac and cheese(from scratch). My toes are awesome. I'm convinced that Big Foot exists. I don't like to be touched. I love those cheese biscuits from Red Lobster. The word diction makes me laugh. I think alcohol tastes like gasoline. I was once attacked by a flying roach. I love the history channel. My torso is too long for my body. I wish I was a poet. I'm an insomniac. I am my own worst enemy. But enough about me already!!!
Tag causes (the causes or issues you are most passionate about):
Addressing Poverty, Civil Rights Issues, Climate Change, Cultural Preservation, Gay & Lesbian Rights, Political Action, Prison Reform, Social Justice, Youth Violence Intervention

Peace.

I haven't been here either. Thanks for checking on me. It's been a busy summer and I know that when fall gets here it's only going to get worse. Lots of good things in the works! I hope everything is lovely where you are. Sending peace and positive energy your way..

We are still working out all the details for the open mic spot. I had no idea so much went into this... I've been reading all about laws, managing money, etc. But it's all good. I'm not backing down. Keep me in your prayers. I was approached today about expanding it into North Carolina. So who knows I might just do that. Wow, I'm still working out kinks on the first project and another one is starting.

The Circle is going great! I have about 47 members now. We are starting a book club and a few other projects. It's crazy!! Dream big and challenge the world to keep up.

Oh and yea thanks for the kind words!! You know I love to switch up my page. haha

sending joy and peace your way,

It's all coming together with this open mic thing I'm trying to get started. I met up with a lady who knows two guys willing to let me host at their club. I'll be basically running the club/lounge 2-3 days out of the week bringing local and other talent together through poetry, music, and art. I'm working out the cover charge and stuff. I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm having a blast figuring it all out!

Have you been practicing lately? Hope so!

Anyway have a fun weekend. Reach out when you can.

respect and blessings,

Girlie, I don't know WHAT u talkin' bout--I am NOT ready to TOTALLY give up mac-n-cheese just yet! I love being a veggie girl, but dang...I don't know, man...that mac-n-cheese be CALLIN' ME!!! But.....I will have to e-mail you the recipe. I fixed it this past New Year's for all of our friends and they ate like wild fat pigs. They are STILL talkin' about it! LOL. In succession, I am working on a love story/drama, a comedy/drama, a unique drama (trust me--THIS one's gonna be talked about wildly on OPRAH) and a horror film. Got my hands full. As things progress in levels...I will keep ya' posted. Lots and lots of work to be done! I like your name. How is it pronounced? U can write back in big letters and parenthesis for the pronounciating-impaired. LOL. LDM

The cheese biscuits from Red Lobster are ridiiiiiculous, aren't they? I'm trying to let dairy go (as a vegetarian), but those biscuits just won't let me! Just don't go there wantin' biscuits at any time NEAR closing time, or you'll get the hard ones. Happened to me. I'm lucky I still have my front teeth. And... you were attacked by a flying ROACH? If it were me, I would have broken my limbs in several places (and the limbs of any others in the way) trying to get it off of me. I don't EVEN want to imagine the attack and what YOU did in the process. LOL. We share awesome toes, BOMB scratch mac-n-cheese makin', lovin' Black people, the guitar, wanting world peace, the fact that Big Foot exists (OMG--there are some really strange creatures that have been turning up--same reason why I won't go deep in the ocean, swimming and diving around as if I were "one with nature". Uh...NO. We are NEVER one with nature--something will eat the MESS out of us thinkin' that) and alcohol CAN taste like flavored gasoline! How are you? LDM

Corinne Bailey Rae: The Sea

Anyone who’s been through a serious loss knows about the baffling part: After it’s over, you are still you. You are you, plus the loss, plus the pain and confusion the loss causes. The process of healing isn’t really a matter of “getting over it” — taking it in is what’s necessary, incorporating what’s been [...]

Maxwell: BLACKsummers’ Night

The best way to listen to Maxwell’s new “BLACKsummers’ Night” is with the volume turned all the way up. The Girl Who Silenced the World for 5 Minutes

I believe that children our our future. Straight Outta Mogadishu Somali-born rapper K’naan on African pirates and the world’s hardest ghetto. —By Eamon Kircher-Allen for Mother Jones K’naan’s music sounds a little like Eminem’s, if Slim Shady had spent his childhood dodging bullets in Somalia’s civil war. “I Want Michelle Obama Arms!”

She’s Pumped. Your Turn. By LIZ ROBBINS THE arms have taken on a life of their own. They have provoked controversy, envy, a bit of backlash, even bad puns about the right to bare them.
